Ancient cultures cultivated practices for expanding consciousness beyond ordinary perception and used these states to access intelligence that informed consequential decisions, deepened insight, and expanded what they could accomplish.

In her second book, Coherent Creation: The Operating Manual for Reality, Kathryn Brewer claims these expanded states were more than contemplative, they were a way of establishing a communication channel with higher realms. Using a framework inspired by 9th century Buddhist monk Kōbō Daishi Kūkai’s Three Mysteries, Brewer claims mystics were not entering an altered consciousness to access deeper, less available parts of the mind but to collaborate in partnership with nonphysical intelligence through resonance, entrainment and coherence.

To support this claim, Brewer identifies a repeatable ten step structure that appears across multiple esoteric traditions and articulates how each step corresponds with the rules of physics and engineering. She applies the principles of Claude Shannon's information theory and the physics of transmission where a wave passes through a medium or across a boundary to describe the functional purpose of these practices.

In Coherent Creation, spiritual communication is lawful and that the principles governing it correspond to laws already visible in physical reality. The purpose of the meditation is to offer a direct experience of how coherence feels in the body rather than discussing it intellectually.

The session brings ancient practice into direct conversation with contemporary questions in consciousness research. Participants experience how mandala, mantra and mudra can be deliberately coordinated within a single practice, giving them an embodied reference point for exploring coherence, resonance, transmission, reception, and expanded states of consciousness.
