The Audiobook is Here!

The Audiobook is Here

On Saturday, February 11, 2023, I had a dream about a woman who told me everything would be okay. That I would be okay despite the paralyzing low self-worth and anxiety I'd been carrying for years. I woke up believing that dream more than I had believed anything in my life.

It was the night before the Super Bowl.

Yesterday, the day before Super Bowl 2026, the audiobook of Not Your Mother's Mystic went live.

Since leaving my corporate job last June, I've heard from readers who couldn't put the book down. Who stayed up until 3am finishing it. Who told me it inspired them to be bolder, more self-accepting. That it affirmed things they'd felt or experienced but didn't have words for.

As a lifelong writer, this is why I write: to create that moment of "That just described exactly how I feel!" That flash of recognition that makes us both feel less alone. I believe it comes from radical honesty, vulnerability, and trusting that we're not as different from each other as we think.

When readers asked for an audiobook, many saying they didn't have time to read but would listen, I decided to record it.

Creating this audiobook taught me hard lessons about being in business for myself. I hired my first recording studio based on proximity and price. I went daily to record, trusting their assurances about their capabilities. What I learned: audiobook recording requires specialized expertise that music studios don't necessarily have. After a week of recording sessions and five months of trying to get usable files, I had to walk away from money I'd already spent and start over.

It was one of my first experiences holding boundaries as a business owner when someone else's integrity didn't match mine. Cutting my losses wasn't failure. It was me learning to value my work enough to invest in the expertise it deserved.

I found Peter at Armadillo Audio Group in Amherst, Massachusetts. Audiobooks are his specialty. He coached my delivery, noticed when my voice needed rest, and sent me back to my historic hotel in Northampton when I needed to recover. I had just finished writing my second book in a whirlwind, and those quiet evenings were rejuvenating in ways I didn't know I needed.

Peter carefully edited the recording with the attention and skill the work required. I will be going back to Peter and Armadillo Audio Group to record Coherent Creation. Even though AI recording is now approved for Amazon audible, hearing the author read their book has a special impact on the listening experience and is a valuable investment. Peter is excellent at what he does, very easy and professional to work with and has a wonderful voice!

We submitted it to Audible, waited through their approval process, and yesterday it went live. Three years to the day after the dream that changed my life forever. Three years before another Super Bowl Sunday.

If you've been waiting for the audiobook, it's here. And when you listen, I hope you feel as seen, brave, and loved as I do every time you share how my story resonated with yours. That connection, that moment of recognition, is why I write.
